It is that time of year! Your children lost it and we found it. Now you need to claim it or we will donate it!



Lightning ReleaseDear Franktown Elementary Community:

Spring is here, and the weather is always changing. We need to be prepared for the possibility of delayed releases due to lightning. It is always our highest priority to keep your children safe. To this end, when we need to have a delayed dismissal due to lightning/weather, we will wait for a break in the weather to allow children to leave the building safely. Please be patient as we monitor the weather.  We will wait until we have a lightning distance greater than eight miles.  If parents have an urgent need to pick up their children at the regular dismissal time or before we determine it is safe to dismiss all students, you may come to the front door, complete the sign-out form, and we will call your student to the office and release them directly to you.  Please only use this for urgent circumstances.  As you can imagine, this will create extreme congestion and make social distancing very difficult. Please wear a mask and maintain social distancing while waiting.

We will send a second communication when we are ready to dismiss.

For your reference, we use the Weatherbug App and the Spark feature within the app to monitor lightning.

We appreciate your patience during these unusual circumstances. Remember we are trying to keep your children as safe as possible.

SAGEWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL BEGINNING THE WALK 2022-2023 6TH GRADE/NEW STUDENT TRANSITION

PROGRAM DATE: JULY 27- JULY 29, 2022

TIME: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

LOCATION: SAGEWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL (SGMS)

This is an opportunity for incoming 6th and new 7th and 8th grade students to learn more about Sagewood Middle School and to support students as they transition to our school.

Program Highlights – Students will have the opportunity to:

● Learn about middle school culture, academics, and school expectations

● Learn organization strategies and tips for having a successful year at Sagewood Middle School

● Meet new friends

● Learn the layout of the building and walk their schedule

● Find out about athletics, clubs and activities offered at SGMS

● Meet Principal D’Ardenne and other Sagewood staff members

We have exciting news to announce! This summer marks the fifth annual Sagewood Summer Sport Camp Program! This email is to provide you with all the information you may need to register your child. Sign-up early before the camps get too full!  Grades 4-8

What is it?

This summer program will consist of three sport sessions: PE Games, Volleyball, and Basketball. Each session will focus on the fundamental skills for each sport, will include various practice tasks, and will have lots of gameplay! There will also be a two week Speed & Conditioning Camp session which will focus on building endurance while working on proper techniques and body mechanics for running. To get a more detailed description of each camp, please see the attached document titled Summer Sport Camp Descriptions.  

Who can sign up?

This camp is open to incoming 4th grade through 8th grade students. Great for siblings! 

What can you sign up for?

Each session will have its own “sign-up”, so you can choose which session you would like to participate in. Feel free to sign up for just one or several! Each one week session will cost $60, and the two week Speed & Conditioning Camp session will cost $100. Included in the fee is a camp t-shirt!

When/Where is it?

The camp will be held during the second and third weeks of June at Sagewood Middle School (4725 Fox Sparrow Rd. Parker, CO). The Speed Camp session will last two weeks beginning June 6th. It will start at 7:30am and run until 9:00am each day (Mon. - Thurs.). Each PE Games session (I and II) will last one week and will start at 9:30am and end at 11:00am. Finally each sport session (Volleyball and Basketball) will also last one week and will go from 11:30am to 1:00pm. This summer the school district is installing a new cooling tower for the school, which means there will be NO AIR CONDITIONING in the building during our camps. We will take this information into consideration when we plan our activities, which means there will be lots of water breaks! We just wanted to let you know before you sign up your child!

Registration will be completed through your “My School Bucks” account. You can use this link to login, or you can access the My School Bucks home page under the “Parent Central” tab on the SGMS home page. COVID-19 Guidelines

We will follow all required state and county guidelines for social distancing and facial coverings should any guidelines go into effect before camp starts. Students are more than welcome to wear facial coverings if they choose to do so. There is plenty of access to drinking fountains in the school now! (Last year they were all turned off due to COVID). This is especially good news since we won’t have any air conditioning!  

Camp Directors

The two camp directors are  Mr. Sean Frazier and Mr. Dan McCarter. Mr. Frazier has taught 12 years of Physical Education with almost 10 years of coaching experience in Cross Country, Flag Football, Basketball, and Track. Mr. McCarter has taught Physical Education for 11 years at the elementary level, and he has five years experience coaching basketball and baseball. He also has seven years experience running summer camps and sports clubs at North East and Mountainview Elementary Schools. There will also be additional Sagewood coaches and high school student-volunteers joining us throughout each session.

Comcast is participating in the federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and recently introduced two new ACP-focused offers giving consumers new choices to take full advantage of the up to $30/month credit. Households may be eligible if they participate in programs like the National School Lunch Program, SNAP, Medicaid, housing assistance, Federal Pell Grant and others.

 

  • Internet Essentials Plus – To provide more options for Internet Essentials (IE) customers, Comcast is introducing a new, faster tier of home broadband service which will be fully covered by the ACP credit and has twice the download speed of the original IE service. Internet Essentials Plus will offer download speeds up to 100 Mbps (10 Mbps upload) for $29.95/month. Existing IE customers can upgrade to this tier anytime, and new customers can sign up for the service regardless of whether they participate in ACP. Internet Essentials Plus customers who enroll in ACP will have their broadband service charges completely covered by the $30/month government credit.

Stone Canyon

Registration is now open for Stone Canyon Summer Camp! Both Overnight and Day Camps are accepting registrants.

Stone Canyon offers a wide variety of activities, and our dedicated staff is committed to ensuring your camper will learn new skills, make new friends, and be safe while at camp. Our goal is to create a community that will help campers become more confident and daring individuals, all while having the best time of their lives!

In the last year and a half, Stone Canyon has built a brand new ropes course and completed an expansion of our dining hall and kitchen. We are so excited for campers to experience them this summer. While we have made adjustments to our programming to follow national and local COVID mitigation guidelines, we aim to provide the same connection and adventure that make our summer camp special.

Cost

One week of Overnight Camp is $1,075, with a deposit of $325. One week of Day Camp is $435, with a deposit of $135.

COVID Mitigation Guidelines

Below is a summary of the guidelines we anticipate adhering to this summer. Guidelines and protocols are subject to change as we continue to monitor guidance from the CDC and state and local health departments.

  • Increased cleaning: Stone Canyon will disinfect and clean all equipment and common spaces between camper use
  • Pre-camp and daily health screenings: Staff and campers will pre-screen using a written record two weeks before camp. On arrival day and each subsequent day, campers will undergo a health screening.
  • Required negative COVID test: All overnight campers are required to test for COVID 24-72 hours prior to their arrival at Stone Canyon, regardless of vaccination status (subject to change based on cases). An official print-out of the campers’ test results must be brought to check-in. Day campers are not required to test for COVID.
  • Cohorts: At this time we are not anticipating keeping campers in cohort groups. Clubs, meal times, and camper’s choice activities will operate as they normally would.
    • If we determine that cohorts are necessary, campers will remain with the same group of campers and counselors over the course of the week.

Borrowed Clothes 

Borrowed clothes from the Health Room?

If by chance, your child came home in a different outfit one day after school sponsored by the health room. Would you please make sure you wash it and return it to the school as soon as possible. We have a very limited supply.

TIP: If all Kindergarten and 1st grade families would please put a change of clothes in your child’s backpack for emergencies (accidents) that would be very helpful.

do not be late9:05 am to 3:55 pm is our school day.  Please make sure you have your student dropped by 9:05 at the latest, or they will be tardy. We do have a BASE program for families that need to drop off students before       8:55 am. There is a fee and here is the link to sign up
